A glass capsule of unknown origins was delivered to the station’s science laboratories for study. However, before it could be inspected, it was accidentally shattered -and, as a result, a strange fog was released out of it, filling up all of the science, medical, and entertainment sectors. Before the fog could spread further, these affected areas were quickly blocked off from the rest of the station. While that ensured the safety of the rest of the station, everyone who didn’t flee in time were now stuck in it, their supply of clean oxygen in shortage and dropping. In response, a handful of officers met up in engineering after the initial alert, to try to figure out what the fog was and how to deal with it. A scan revealed that the fog was blocking communications, rendering any easy attempt to reach out to them impossible.
Meanwhile, people in the contaminated area found themselves wandering The Town - a derelict, abandoned settlement, haunted by monstrous entities. Dark, glaring silhouettes, sentient darkness, monstrous hounds… One of these entities, appearing as a young Romulan man, urged them to find their way out of the fog as soon as possible - because the longer they stayed, the higher their risk of getting lost forever became. Sensing dismissal, he decided to demonstrate their predicament - several of the Town’s prisoners ended up killed, only to find themselves alive in different parts of the foggy Town. The survivors of the encounter went to find an unaffected turbolift, where they could reach out to the rescue squad in engineering.
While those stuck in medical were trying to avoid a Borg-like monstrosity and help their fellow officers, a handful of scientists banded together in a team and found an unaffected room, establishing second contact with the engineering. The rescue team also created Foghorn, a drone with a tricorder, that got sent into the fog to get a proper scan of it. The fog was revealed to be composed of hallucinogens, and the broken capsule was indeed the source, still actively creating it.
The scientist followed the drone, determined to seal the capsule. Unfortunately, by that time, the apparitions started to manifest physically - and the dog-beasts attack on the drone was witnessed on the cameras. While the scientists distracted it and sealed up the capsule, the engineering team went into the fog to lend a hand, kitted out in EV-suits.
With the capsule sealed, they were able to successfully flush the fog out, and recover the Town’s prisoners - with the ghostly apparitions nowhere to be seen.
