Out of nowhere, a D'deridex class ship had come out of it's singularity jump near the starbase. Identified as a Star Empire vessel, the IRW Kinaen was seemingly barren and dead, as well as a victim of Borg assimilation - such conclusion came from the visual analysis of the ship, as well as the numerous scans made, including a probe, that showed a negative on life signs. Thus, a decision to send an away team to investigate the Warbird further was made, and as soon as volunteers had assembled into three smaller teams, Eventide was deployed to transport them closer to the derelict vessel.
During their investigations, the away team made a discovery of numerous dead bodies - all belonging to Tal Shiar - as well as the inner corruption of the vessel by the Borg. Team One then made their way towards the available medical rooms to see if anything was discoverable there; Team Two went to the Security sector, discovering the rest of the dead bodies; and Team Three took it upon themselves to go to the engineering, to try and fix the Kinaen's faulty singularity core.
The unnerving discovery of a pod with a living body inside, made by Team One, and the discovery of a victim of assimilation, made by Team Three, were interrupted by Kinaen herself, who, all of a sudden, became active once more - and by performing another singularity jump, she - as well as the whole away team - disappeared from the Eventide's, and the station's, radars, leaving the rest of officers with the task of retracing her trail in efforts to return their colleagues back home.
Meanwhile, the surviving members of the IRW Kinaen crew became active as well - and, upon discovering Starfleet onboard, they were rather displeased by what they saw. But, through some talking and diplomacy, the Starfleet officers were successful in avoiding conflict and even managing to come to some sort of compromise. It was made known to them, that the IRW Kinaen, due to her crew being sympathetic to the resistance movement and disobeying some of the orders made by their new masters under the Free State, was decided to be inhumanely experimented upon by artificial assimilation of the whole crew. Hundreds of her people were sent away, leaving only five, including the Commander, to try and fight back against the Tal Shiar. In the end, they failed - but managed to take out both the scientists, and the Borg drone.
Just as the away team and the crew began their discussion on how to proceed, the Eventide had came to reclaim the officers. Instead, she brought back the whole D'deridex - and, after the Starfleet officers were safely brought back to the station, the Republic escorts came to lead the IRW Kinaen to Mol'Rihan - where her, and her remaining crews faith will be decided upon.
