When a Borg cube stopped dead in the water a short while away from 777, the crew was sent to investigate. The USS Eventide was deployed to perform initial scans and then an away team was sent over to the vessel. While on the cube, the away team found themselves being cut off from communication between the Eventide, and eventually became stranded – all while being hunted by a lone, erratic, mechanically-enhanced drone. 

With people being injured in the attempts to get through the Borg cube and avoid the drone, camp was set up in the cube’s hangar bay. After some time, a rescue party arrived to retrieve the stranded officers, but to do so they had to get through the cube to shut down its power source at the core. Officers from both teams worked together to do so, but, still being hunted by the lone drone, multiple were injured and even assimilated along the way. 

Eventually the team managed to reach the centre of the cube where a final battle occurred between the officers, the original drone, and those it had assimilated. It was discovered that the Borg cube had been disconnected from the Collective, and using a console, they were able to shut the cube down. After days of being stranded the initial away team was able to beam out along with the officers who had come to their rescue. Those who had been assimilated were liberated – including the initial drone.
