Two weeks ago, contact with Highsplint, a colony controlled by the Breld Company that had been petitioning for Federation citizenship, was lost. The three-man away team sent to investigate went dark a week ago themselves. Eventide was dispatched to scope things out, and the away team found evidence of a firefight on the outskirts of town upon their arrival. As the away team investigated and spoke to some less-than-helpful townsfolk, the crew aboard Eventide realize their comms had been jammed and encounted a large cruiser. An employee of the company captaining the ship threated the crew to leave, before firing on them.

Meanwhile, the away team learned that there were a lot of the townsfolk missing and that there was something in the woods that had been attacking those still left in Highsplint. They found an injured man at the edge of the forest with large gashes on his chest, the work of the monster in the woods. The townsfolk became agitated, blaming the away team’s arrival on why the monster is attacking them, and a fight broke out. The away team managed to drive a lot of the crowd off, who raced off to the mine, and returned to town to regroup and get more information.

Eventide managed to drive the cruiser off with their superior firepower and a torpedo-turned-time bomb, though the company employee vowed revenge. Back in Highsplint, the away team learned that the monster in the woods was likely an android that some of the citizens petitioning for Federation citizenship had reprogrammed to help them in their fight against the company. 

They found the android, KX-4 (or Kix), in a clearing in the woods and managed to talk him down and patch him up enough for him to offer his help in finding the missing townsfolk and the three-man team who were locked up in the mine near town. The away team stealthily made their way inside, getting the drop on the foreman and the company loyalists. They saved the three other officers and the missing townsfolk, and returned to Starbase 777 with new friends and allies. Though they’d made an enemy of the Breld Company, they had no doubt dealt a heavy blow to them!
