Here Be Dragons

A representative of an Annari colony came to Starbase 777, seeking aid in researching a planet to be considered for colonization. Of course, 777 was more than happy to lend a hand, and sent an away team to get a look at the planet and see just what they could find. 

What they would find was a planet ripe with plenty of resources for establishing a colony— minerals for trade and building, plenty of food, wood, and soil rich with minerals for farming— as well as dragons.

A great beast swept down from the heavens, threatening the away team’s little shuttle with a smoking, bulbous tail, forcing an impromptu landing. The more the away team would explore, the more their concern grew; for the preservation of fascinating life on this planet, for the safety of the colonists. They found creatures of all shapes and sizes, quilled, feathered, and fuzzy, as well as insect-like; and, of course, another dragon, soaring through the sky with its mate. 

Returning to 777, the officers posed their worries to the representative, who initially brushed it off. His people were refugees of war, after all, forced to flee with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and they were his main concern. With some back and forth, the final solution was posed; a colony orbiting the planet, with temporary housing on 777, something both parties were happy to agree to.
